Yes, antibiotics can be life saving...I would have been dead at 3 days old without them...
BUT...
We must remember that our gut is the main residence of our immune system.
Disrupting your gut microbiome automatically disrupts your immune function, which can have far-reaching consequences.
One way antibiotics can promote disease is by creating an oxygen-rich environment in your intestines, favoring the growth of pathogenic bacteria.
Beneficial microbes grow in an anaerobic (no oxygen) environment, while pathogenic bacteria need oxygen to survive.
..even one course of antibiotics can negatively alter your microbiome for up to one year.
That being said, I have been dealing with rosacea since 2017.
I was put on a never ending regimen of doxycycline.
I knew better, but being vain I was willing to take it.
It killed my gut (which I am still rebuilding!)
A good practioner is like a detective and your body is the crime scene.
I played detective and found that histamines in food and drink can make you flare!
After a few days of high histamine food (aged cheese, nuts, fermented foods like kimchi, my lovely spinach, etc) and wine (yes, ) my face turned angry and looked like it had been dipped in a bucket of boiling water.
Yes, it is painful...but I offered it up.
After a few days of eating anti, and low, histamine foods (cauliflower, blueberries, fresh chicken, etc) my face calmed down.
I pray that what I have learned, helps someone.
No more antibiotics unless my life is in jeopardy 
Saint Timothy is the patron saint of stomach problems....so, I think that is close enough to gut microbiome.
