So, if you ask if there is an increase in the need for 'spiritual protection' I can heartily agree that here in my area of Michigan, I seem to be seeing more and more people wearing larger crucifixes and, though this may be a small side note... seeming to 'come together' through various paths with likeminded Catholics. Bumping into each other on our daily journeys, acknowledging to each other that we share a common bond.
